Higher Education Ranking’s Dilemmas

Philip G. Altbach in his paper The Dilemmas of Ranking International Higher Education raise an interesting issue regarding world or national higher education ranking. He believes that some majors higher education ranking publisher do not accurate to measure academic institution performance.

Paul Johnson’s Green Paper

This afternoon the new vice-chancellor (vc) and president La Trobe University (LTU), Professor Paul Johnson,  came and met the students at  the Agora theater to discuss his Green Paper (GP). The paper is resumed his idea to reposition LTU as it is contained 16 proposals to evaluate the challanges and opportunities of LTU in 2007 and the next 10 years ahead.

Bis Khusus Perempuan: Sebuah Diskriminasi Jender?

Baru-baru ini ada berita tentang kemunculan bis khusus penumpang perempuan di Riau. Bus khusus perempuan yang dikelola oleh swasta (baca: bukan pemerintah) cukup kontoversial dari berbagai sisi. Salah satu sisi yang saya soroti adalah masalah persamaan hak konsumen. Tampaknya PT Riau KM, si penyedia jasa bis perempuan ini berbuat tidak adil ketika awak bis ini menolak untuk memberikan layanan kepada kaum adam.
